6th to 8th of March, 2017 – NEWTON was represented by two papers in the 11th annual International Technology, Education and Development Conference in Valencia, Spain.
White Loop Ltd from the UK, QUI! Group and Beyond Srl, both from Italy, presented their research on the Newton Enhanced Gamification Model (N-EGM), which introduces a coherent approach to the implementation and use of gamification and game-based learning within a digitally-driven STEM teaching context. The concepts of socialization and personalization are also integrated into this model.
Adaptemy, from Ireland, presented a virtual review paper on the current status of virtual labs in STEM education, their advantages and challenges. Further discussion on the importance of the assessment of effectiveness of virtual labs was also included. Finally, this paper presented how the innovative NEWTON virtual labs can overcome the existing limitations.
